Your Mom’s Burger Bar
1701 E Cesar Chavez St

Rating: 4/10
Your Mom’s Burger Bar is a cute hipsteriffic burger joint on the Eastside. Its a little tricky to find, given that its actually at the rear of a building, and doesn’t face onto Cesar Chavez.
Comparable to other offerings in town, the burgers are pretty pricey (starting at $7.25) but they certainly do seem wholesome and made with care and decent ingredients.
Pros: Decent sized burger, crispy seasoned fries and great fried pickles.
Cons: You need 4 hands to eat the burger- two to hold it, another to catch all the stuff that is falling outta it and wipe your mouth, and a fourth to swat at the barrage of flies that attacked us in the outdoor only dining area. We even hacked of a piece of sacrificial meat at put it on a tray next to us to try an divert them.
But the biggest reason for a lacklustre rating would be the raw patty. Your Mom’s do cheese stuffed burgers, which is all fun and good, but the area surrounding my american cheese filling was raw. Not rare, raw. Like, still in patty shape with a shiny pressed finished raw. I showed my dining companions just to check i wasnt being paranoid- they said they wouldnt have eaten it.
In fairness, i didnt bring it up with the kitchen because i didnt really want another, and had gotten my fill on the part i had eaten, so i didnt see the point.
If you’re willing to give em a go, their website does suggest that they offer a delivery service – and the sheer convenience of not having to move more than a few feet to get a burger probably brings their rating up another point.
And, you’re welcome for being spared the “yo momma” jokes in this post.
